Our client was a UK based food processing who wanted to improve both the quality and speed of the inspection of packaged dry-snack food. They wanted to increase the efficieny of the automation of their processes, and produce the audit metrics for their business to demonstrate to the regulatory authorities the reject rates for inspection. We recommended a solution using toolsets from HPE/NVidia, to provide AI based visual inspection of the production line, with deep learning to analyse to level of package rejection due to assembly and package sealing defects.

Once the defect rate was known that company was able to build the business case to justify an investment in re-tooling and increased automation which resulted in shorter line downtime and increased visibility of actual defect rates.
